Black People And Christmas Lights

Some American homeowners prefer to celebrate the season all year long. Of those surveyed, more people preferred to leave their lights up year-round than those who believed that the first week of November was too early to put out lights.
Christmas is an amazing time of year. There are so many things to do, to plan for and to see. One of those things is Christmas lights. Every year people dig them out or buy the latest trend and decorate their trees, and their homes with these colorful and cheerful reminders of the holiday season. Christmas lights actually started out just as candles. These candles were attached to the tree using wax or pins. The practice began in Germany during the 17th century and over the next 200 or so years; it became an established practice in Germany and began to spread out into other countries of Eastern Europe.
The first sets of sting lights were too expensive for the majority of people to afford but by 1900, many department stores were using Christmas lights to liven up their holiday displays and attract customers. The American Eveready company produced the first Christmas light set however in 1903.
Recent years have seen no drop in the love neither of Christmas lights nor in their ever-expanding uses and the creativity of displays created with them. In fact, some people keep them use them all year round as lighting for various purposes.
Christmas lights are one of the symbols of the holiday season. They are versatile ways to create beautiful displays. Many people have created a tradition out of decorating the tree, the home both inside and out and the yard with Christmas lights. It is a fun way to bring family and even friends together in a creative and fun way.
Most people know that LED Christmas lights save a lot of electricity but there are many more reasons to consider making the switch. According to a nationwide survey conducted by Christmas Lights, Etc of over 2,000 Christmas consumers, 57% now prefer LEDs over incandescent. Here's why:
Bottomline: LED lights are much easier to use for large Christmas displays, they are safer, they last longer, they produce more vivid color and use up to 90% less energy. Now you know why so many people have already made the switch.
C7/C9 Replacement Bulbs- Many people prefer the ability to change their C7 or C9 light bulbs, however most pre-packaged light sets have these bulbs hard wired together. While that makes it easier to place lights on your house, it also limits your ability swap colors or replace bulbs if you need to. There are a wide variety of LED C7 and C9 replacement bulbs but they are not all created equal.
Vivid and Bright: Cool White LED lights are often chosen when people want to achieve a more snow white tone or if they are creating color patterns. For example, cool white LEDs are popular with red and white or blue and white holiday themes. They are also very popular as a complement to silver accent colors with Christmas tree bulbs or ribbon.
As the season of turkey and dressing passes quickly, many people of Athens and surrounding areas are anticipating the transition to colorful lights, fresh hot chocolate and cultural holiday traditions.
I suspect you have all probably heard about Kwanzaa. It was started during the Black Power movement of the late 1960s. Kwanzaa, a Swahili word for \"first fruits,\" was a wholly invented holiday for black people to begin on Dec. 26 and last through New Year's Day. For those seven days, people of African descent are to celebrate \"the best of what it means to be African and human.\"
Kwanzaa adopts the central symbol of Hanukkah, the lighting of candles. Instead of a Jewish menorah, Karenga came up with a candelabra called a \"kinara\" (another Swahili word). Each night of Kwanzaa, black people are supposed to light a red, green or black candle to observe one of the celebration's \"Seven Guiding Principles\" for respecting their African heritage. Each candle stands for one of the following: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.
Pan-Africanism (all black peoples coming together) popped up periodically during the 20th century. The Back to Africa movement could make a comeback and Kwanzaa might someday be more widely observed. But at this point in time, saying \"Happy Holidays\" and \"Merry Christmas\" to African-Americans seems to be sufficient.
The lights in the yard and on the house are set to music, and there was even a Facebook group created for fans and people who are interested in checking it out. It is super simple, just drive up, put the car in park (safely), tune your radio to their signal on display, listen to the Christmas tunes, and enjoy the lights.
